July 5, 1947 It's a day like any other in the tranquil town of Roswell, in the desert of New Mexico: Mary Penning, a nurse at the Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) hospital, is going about her usual routine when she encounters a sight that shocks and terrifies her. While looking for medical supplies, she opens the door of the morgue. Bent over the autopsy table, two unfamiliar doctors and a nurse are examining a humanoid body. It is small-framed, with a disproportionately large head, and long, skinny limbs. Two figures in black suits on the other side of the room have their gaze focused on a large box that sits between them, which is covered by a white sheet.
